Hello Families!
How is it November?! If you’ve been keeping up to date with our website, you’ll have noticed that it’s been a while since I updated our page. The truth is, when school started back and our usual routine got set in place - with the addition of piano lessons this year - I found it hard to keep up with the routine I started this summer.
Funny how that happens sometimes. Just when you think “it’s going to be easier getting back into the swing of school routines” something inevitably changes and chaos erupts. I let several things slide to the wayside in my attempt to keep our house afloat and I’m glad for a gentle reminder email from a friend with the copy and pasted “What’s the Buzz” - that’s been up since the summer.
So, what IS the buzz right now with re.spire? Lots is the simple answer! We have started rehearsing for our Christmas pageant (yes, I know it’s the fall) on December 21st, and the children from summer camp were invited to join Andrew and the SCUC choir to sing at the Organ Rededication Concert on November 2nd at 7 p.m.
The children and re.spire have also been asked to lead worship on Sunday, December 7th in place of our annual Christmas Pageant at SCUC. We will start building our service, explore themes and make plans in the coming weeks. I would love to have as many friends join me in the presentation and planning.
It was with love we said happy retirement to Rev. Mark at the end of October, and the children gifted him a recipe book they compiled with the help of the choir. Thank-you to all who helped by sending recipes, helping to colour, organizing, and anything else that went into creating the book.
We will be spending some time at Pioneer Memorial Church for the month of November. To see the full schedule, check out the "SUNDAY" tab on the website. Our regular children's programming will still happen starting at 9:30 in the lower hall.
Stay in loop through via the email chain. If you’d like to be added, reach out to the office for more information.
Until next time,
Peace & Joy,
Brynna Poaps
Stoney Creek United has undergone a change - like so much of the Christian world. We are moving away from the outdated Sunday morning only programming, and towards non-Sunday events! Why? Well, mostly because we recognize that on a Sunday morning, you're tired, the kids are tied, and a chill day at home sounds PERFECT! Or you're running out the door for hockey, dance, guides, soccer, swim lessons, cheer, scouts, cadets - the list goes on and on and on. Sundays just don't work - but a weekday evening or a Saturday afternoon might! We hear you, we see you, and we listen to you.
So how do we show we have changed how our children and youth ministries work? By giving it a new name, of course! Introducing re.spire a children and youth ministry breathing new life into our community through various programming opportunities.
Stoney Creek United and re.spire aim to provide more options for spiritual growth. Letting you "play, breathe, repeat" while your little enjoys some wholesome fun. re.spire Children's Ministries actively practices what we preach in our traditional Sunday School programming: radical kindness, overwhelming love, and unending inclusivity within and around our community. We provide free events to all children and youth - no matter their beliefs, background, socio-economic standing, orientation, or religion. Everyone is welcome, and everyone is loved. This is how we at re.spire and Stoney Creek United live our Mission Statement: Discovering and Sharing God's Love for All This means all children - no matter what - are welcome at any and all events by re.spire Children's Ministries.
Sunday morning programming is still provided in the Fireside Room beginning at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday morning at Stoney Creek United (click the menu button "SUNDAY" for exceptions, when we are at sister locations). All children are welcome to join!

Re.spire Children's Ministries is also excited to announce this year's musical theater summer camp will be doing a production of "Peter Pan"! Camp will be at Stoney Creek United Church from August 11-22 with the big performance on the 22nd.
The "Peter Pan" script was written/adapted by Kate Brier and accessed through Drama Notebook. If you would like to look into Drama Notebook, a wonderful resource, you can do so by going to dramanotebook.com/plays-for-kids/
